Broccardo Winery
A young heart with strong roots in the past
Three siblings… Filippo, Laura and Federica decide to collect everything that has been handed down to them by their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents: respect for the land, that of the Langhe, love for a job that gives no respite, work of the vineyard in respect of the territory, and they have bottled it for you, so that you can taste it in the right philosophy of life: “Nunc est bibendum, nunc pede libero pulsanda tellus”. (Now one must drink, and with one’s foot strike the earth in freedom – Horace, Odes, I, 37, 1)

History
The parents had been marketing the grapes since the 1970s, but it was only with the entry of the three brothers into the company in 2009 that full production began, with a large trend towards exports mainly to Europe, the United States and Asia.
From a careful selection of the grapes, the fine wines of the Langa are born, in particular Barolo DOCG, Langhe DOC Nebbiolo, Barbera d ‘Alba DOC ,Dolcetto d’Alba DOC, Langhe DOC Arneis and Langhe DOC Rosato. Since 2014 the cellar has been part of the area that has become a UNESCO heritage site.
From the 2016 harvest, the wine is obtained with low environmental impact viticultural and oenological techniques.
Vinification
The scrupulous use of wood is evident, favoring Slavonian oak and French oak for the refinement of Barolo, Nebbiolo and Barbera. For the production of wines with more fruity and fresh characters such as Dolcetto, Arneis and Rosato, the use of steel is instead preferred. The training system used in the vineyards is the guyot system, with sustainable practices of work in the vineyard.
The vinification is focused on the purity of each wine, maintaining the fruity scents, without altering their peculiarities, so that the characteristics of our Langa land can be perceived. The company follows the EU directives (integrated production technical law n. 214) which provides for the practice of grassing and the containment of treatments.
MGA

Paiagallo
The fourth sector of the eastern side of the Municipality of Barolo opens with the rounded and unmistakable shapes of Paiagallo.
A mention of good value that includes three different areas: the Villa, which expresses more fruity and elegant wines, the Paiagallo proper, characterized by a deep inlet that rotates towards the south and by wines of a rougher character, and finally the area of San Sebastiano which dominates the town of Barolo and which anticipates the adjacent areas of Terlo and Via Nuova in terms of morphology, exposure and style
-
Ravera
Of all the mentions that are located within the municipal territory of Barolo di Novello, the Ravera is by far the largest and most heterogeneous in terms of exposure metrics, we can say that internally there are four different nuclei.
The first, which goes from the border with Barolo to Cascina Serra, is nothing more than the continuation of the upper part of Terlo, at least in terms of heights and exposures.
The second, which develops below the road that leads from Barolo to Monforte d’Alba, is instead included between the border with the Rivassi and Cascina Ravera and enjoys good positions for Nebbiolo. The third instead goes from the Parusse farmhouse to the Ravera farmhouse and has its best positions on the side facing south, in particular at the height of Bricco Pernice. Finally, the Quarto coincides with the large and bright basin of Cascina Pratorotondo and Cascina Nuova.

San Giovanni
More faithful than others to traditions and history, the delimitation of San Giovanni has included both sides of the hill which leads to the locality of the same name in the MGA.
The first, to date never verified in purity, faces towards Novello and enjoys a good exposure to the west.
The second instead faces east and has been successfully vinified for many years now. This side of San Giovanni is also renowned for the good quality of its Barbera

Bricco San Pietro
Together with the Bussia, Bricco San Pietro is the other “giant” of the western side of Monforte d’Alba.
It extends from the cool and steep side overlooking the Corsini, from the warm and humid side overlooking Settevie and Manzoni, up to the width of Tantesi and the gentle hills of Pansoglio, Cucchi and Viglioni.
Bricco San Pietro is the area of Monforte d’Alba that has undoubtedly seen the greatest ferment in terms of plants and new cellars.
The proposal of labels has gradually become more articulated allowing to better understand the value and character of this once almost unexplored area.
The Barolo from this area is generally deep, tarry, quite different from the more agile style of Barolo by Manzoni, the Cucchi and the Viglioni.
The BROCCARDO winery has obtained SQNPI certification for its work towards integrated production.
The SQNPI system, applicable to all crop production, allows the use of integrated labels, using both the regional label and the SQNPI “Sustainable Quality” label on products. This is an agri-food production system that uses all means of production and agricultural defence to protect against adversity, and aims to minimise the use of synthetic chemical products and rationalise fertilisation, while respecting ecological, economic and toxicological principles.
In this way, the system ensures that the quality of the end product is higher than it is today.
Broccardo uses the FSC label for the packaging of its wine bottles. The label provides a guarantee that the product purchased is made of wood or paper from responsible sources.
The winery uses no heating or cooling, thanks to the underground location of the labelling and bottling area.
In the social sphere, the BROCCARDO winery is involved with professional associations in a continuous exchange of knowledge in the agri-food sector.
